Join Friends of the River its 2nd annual Salmon Run: a 5K run to Spawn the Next Generation.  

The Salmon Run encourages the local Sacramento community to become more active in protecting the rivers where salmon spawn.  

The Salmon Run 5-kilometer course leads out of Discovery Park and follows the American River Parkway. Along the route, participants encounter many of the obstacles that salmon face on their path to spawn. Decorate a salmon hat using materials re-sourced materials from Re|Create, a local organization that inspires art and education. Capture the fun, wacky salmon art, costumes and new friends at our photo booth. Toby Briggs, Engagement Coordinator, reports that a human-size salmon can be seen on the Salmon Run and “encourages you to go catch it!.”
