THE CAUSE BEHIND THE BEER

While craft beer is booming in Sacramento, we have found that in the past the cause behind the beer has been more or less forgotten or overshadowed. However, the industry in recent years has stood up to the many societal causes, promoting education, awareness, and more, collaborating with a growing list of effective and world changing non-profits. We recently saw Runnin’ For Rhett team up with the ever popular and growing Sac Winterfest And Wine Social at the Red Lion on January 16th. And coming to Sacramento on January 30th, The Art Of Beer Invitational with Ales For Autism being held at the McClellan Conference Center. Ales For Autism, a California-based charity whose mission is to raise money and awareness for those in the autism community has ardently supported the local scene. On January 14th, The Art Of Beer Invitational and Ales For Autism brought the brewers out to meet the Mayor of Roseville, the teachers, and students, for the check presentation and a campus tour at Kaseberg Elementary School in Roseville, CA. Beers In Sac had the pleasure of coming out and capturing the moments on camera.

The experience brought about a personal touch to an ever growing problem, and seeing the people behind the battle against Autism and talking with the heroes that are present every day, challenged us to become more involved. Talking afterward with the brewers who were in attendance Sactown Union Brewery, New Glory Brewing Co., Ninkasi Brewing Co., and 21st Amendment Brewing Co., the overwhelming attitude was one of greater awareness, understanding, and most importantly a personal touch on a personal story in the fight against Autism. So, while we are drinking our brews and participating in the nights entertainment at The Art Of Beer Invitational, let's find satisfaction that this event is more than just entertainment, but instead a community changer, not just with the check book, but with the hearts and minds of the craft beer community.
