This past weekend, beer judges and industry professionals from all over California descended on DBI's Sacramento distribution facility for this year's California State Fair Commercial Beer Competition. Yesterday afternoon, at the culmination of the competition, the most senior ranked judges and industry professionals sat down to determine the top 3 beers of the competition. Flatland Brewing Company from Elk Grove, CA took 1st Place and the overall best of show with their "Pilsner-ish" Pilsner-like Blonde Ale. With over 1400 entries in 40+ categories, this is no small feat, as this competition is the largest single beer competition in all of California.

"Pilsner-ish", as described on Flatland's website; is a super clean, dry, and hoppy blonde and is perfect for the warm weather. It's treated like a typical lager but is fermented using their house ale yeast.

We reached out to Andrew Mohsenzadegan, co-owner and brewer at Flatland, for comment and he had the following to say, "We are humbled and honored to hear the news. Absolutely mind blown... there were so many great beers in this competition and to get this is truly amazing."

On behalf of all of us at Beers in Sac, and no doubt craft beer lovers everywhere, a huge congratulations to Andrew and everyone at Flatland for this achievement.
