2014 has turned out to be a banner year for breweries in the greater Sacramento area. We want to highlight a few of the accomplishments of the year. Cheers to a great 2014 and we can't wait for what 2015 has brewing for Sacramento. 

Medal Winners

New Helvetia takes home Gold at the Great American Beer Festival for "Thurston" Adambier in the Historical Beer category. New Helvetia was the only brewery in our region to take home a medal this year. The GABF has been around since 1982 and is known as the premier beer festival and competition. Breweries from across the nation come to Denver, Colorado for one week to celebrate craft beer.

Track 7 takes the gold medal at the 19th anniversary California State Fair Craft Beer Competition for "Panic IPA" in the Indian Pale Ale and Best of Show category.

Mraz Brewing takes the gold medal at the 19th anniversary California State Fair Craft Beer Competition for "The Cardinal" in the Sour category and the gold medal for "Window of Opportunity" in the Belgian Strong Ale category.

Rubicon Brewing takes the gold medal at the 19th anniversary California State Fair Craft Beer Competition for "Czech Pilsner" in the Pilsner category.

River City Brewing takes the gold medal at the 19th anniversary California State Fair Craft Beer Competition for "Woodenhead" Amber Ale in the American Ale category.

Notable News

American River - Started to book live bands to play at the brewery this year. Follow them on Facebook to stay up to date.  

Bike Dog - The demand for Bike Dog beer was so high that they started to open on Thursdays and were also featured in Draft Magazine.

Goathouse - Great article from Blair Anthony Robertson of the Sacramento Bee who summed up the brewery,

"GoatHouse Brewing opened to the public in September 2013 as a one-of-a-kind farmhouse brewery. In addition to the hops, many of the ingredients brewer Michael Johnson uses for creating different styles of beer come from the property, including honey and citrus."

Hoppy Brewing - Celebrated 20 years in business in July. 

Knee Deep - Mutual Distribution Co. announced the addition of Knee Deep Brewing to its beer portfolio. Mutual Distribution services the entire state of North Carolina

Lodi Beer Company - Celebrated 10 years in business.

Loomis Basin Brewing - The Loomis Basin Chamber of Commerce added the brewery to its Hall of Fame.

"This award is given to a business whose contribution includes, but is not limited to, revenue-generated income for the Loomis Basin, outstanding beautification projects, and professional customer appeal in the Loomis Basin."

New Glory - Hosted the "Farm to Glass" short-film documentary premier created by Victoria Suan from BrewWave. New Glory also expanded their beer production, and will be increasing distribution.

River City Brewing - During all of the construction for the new arena, RCBC is still open, making award winning beers, and even survived a fire in March of this year. 

Rubicon Brewing - Partnered with DBI Beverage for distribution throughout California and a variety of western states. They also celebrated 27 years in business.

Track 7 Brewing - Expands, with a new production facility and taproom in Natomas. Plans to open January 2015.
